Weathervane Seafoods Tournament to benefit Make-A-Wish
Somersworth, NH -The 22nd Annual Weathervane Seafoods Charity Golf Tournament was held at The Oaks, on Tuesday, September 10th. The money raised from this year’s tournament benefited the Make-A-Wish Maine and Make-A-Wish NH. Make-A-Wish helps grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
In 2012 the event raised $11,200 and due to the generosity of our vendors and golfers, raised
$14,700 this year. It was our largest tournament ever with a full field of 32 foursomes who
participated not only in the golf but also purchased raffle tickets, mulligans, putting strings
and chances at the 50/50 putting contest.
Rebecca Leaming of Make-A-Wish, Maine spoke at the tournament and thanked Weathervane for both current and past support and for being one of the largest contributors in the State of Maine. In 2012, Weathervane was recognized by David Williams, President of Make-A-Wish America for the commitment to their organization and to note that the total donations were approaching $100,000 – That number has now been passed!
Jeremy Gagner, Chief Operating Officer of Weathervane Seafood Restaurants said, “We have
raised funds for the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Maine for the past 8 years and will continue
to support them with the 2014 Charity Tournament in September. It is a pleasure to grant
wishes and give hope to the children and families of our local communities at their greatest
time of need. We could not do this without the support of our vendors, employees and
friends who all help make the tournaments successful year after year. We thank all of them
and The Make-A-Wish staff for helping to makes these wishes come true.”
