| Weathervane Seafoods Tournament to benefit Make-A-Wish |
Somersworth, NH -The 18th Annual Weathervane Seafoods Charity Golf Tournament was held at The Oaks, on Tuesday, September 15th. The money raised from this year''s tournament benefited the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Hampshire and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine. The Make-A-Wish Foundation helps grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
In 2008 the event raised $9,200 for the Maine and New Hampshire Chapters. The
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine has selected Weathervane Seafood Restaurants
as a recipient of the 2008 Community Spirit Award. The award was created in 2002
by Make-A-Wish to honor individuals or businesses who have given generously of
their time and resources to make wishes come true for the courageous children of
Maine. Weathervane was selected to become a part of this elite group of supporters
due to the fundraising efforts of the Weathervane Annual Charity Golf Tournaments.
This year over 70 people participated in golf, a prize raffle and a 50/50 putting contest, this year''s total is expected to exceed $8000.
