Being a good neighbor in our communities means lending a helping hand to those in need. Each year Weathervane donates thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours to worthy charities. We are proud of our employees for volunteering their time for such important causes.Weathervane gives back to the local communities in many different ways. In October 2018, Weathervane will be raising money for the Make A Wish Foundation with a cash calendar raffle – winners for cash (and lobster) prizes will be chosen for every day in October, and $5 tickets are still available!

The Chowdah for Charity program is a profitable way for organizations to raise funds by selling Bea’s Famous Clam Chowdah at events. Claws for a Cause certificates are often donated to raffles or auctions and are redeemable for lobster dinners. Our Send em for Seafood program connects us with other local businesses and our Seafood Makes Cents program gives organizations the opportunity to earn 20% cash back from the support they generate. In addition to these programs, Weathervane sponsors youth sports teams and local festivals.

Education is important to us and we offer a scholarship to a graduating employee in each community that hosts a Weathervane Seafood Restaurant. Employees may also be eligible for educational funding assistance for further education.

It is also our obligation to protect the environment and have reduced our disposables by 75%, have enacted methods to conserve water, fuel, and electricity and have recycling policies in place in all of our restaurants. We also support our environment by buying many products locally, we support the Maine Lobster Council and Get Real Get Maine.

We are proud to play a part in helping to shape our communities’ futures and thank our communities for the return support.

Weathervane Seafood Restaurant has been a volunteer vendor at the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk in Boston for the past 25 years, serving thousands of cups of chowder to the participants, who look forward to seeing the Weathervane crew every year.

Every year, the staff at Weathervane Seafoods hosts a golf tournament to raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation. This year was another big success!
